Skipping 03:45
Time moves much in a way we can anticipate it’s progress from day to day as we go on our way. Skipping like a stone on my once placid pond with no choice now but to make waves. What is ever enough? Living like a dream in someone else’s head, middle of the night, when they wake up to find everything is different again, everything is different. I’m never one to fully understand the gravity of the situation, until I’m out of it, usually for the worse.

Live There 03:05
Yeah I used to live there, used to hang out next door. we would bang our heads until nothing felt so good anymore, and I wonder what is keeping me from going back, is it the fear of change or decision making that I lack? Yeah I used to live there, used to mark my height on the doorway downstairs, until I grew up. And I wonder when you really stop your growing, is it the physical height, or the close your eyes and disappear? I used to live there, we used to get along. The silence is killing me, the silence is deafening *bridge lyrics and concept borrowed (with permission) from the song “silence” by Jon The Archivist, give it a listen www.jonthearchivist.bandcamp.com

No one ever told me to stop pushing so hard, until it started to hurt. It’s always the signs you neglect to see, that will burn you the most. So we continue to dig this hole, of ego, loneliness and greed, until we build a fucking time machine.
5.
Intricacies 03:18
Taking time for a conversation I’ve had, so many times before. your hand on my shoulder combing through the layers we’re putting the pieces of thought together, we talk the intricacies of technology, the dissolution of our society, when a face on a screen is all we mean. these thoughts I may have thrown away, reading stories as if we’re under lamp light, not in some book you read when you were younger about the 50s. we talk the intricacies of humanity, the reconstruction of a tragedy, not from some book you read about the 50s, no. “way down in Denver, all I did was die”
6.
Clean Break 03:18
These teeth are falling out of my head, these gums are bleeding. My eyes see nothing but the red, lost sense of feeling, all feeling’s gone. Get used to it, seeing the worst in things, you can’t help but fall in. A clean break is all I ever wanted in the first place, it’s all I hoped for. Isn’t it true that the trouble will find you, when you least expect it to?
7.
Red Arrow 04:31
Red arrow, they’re outside waiting for us to follow. Around the corner, a lesson learned, and to think you’d have to go miles from home to know: Everything’s not what it seems on the outside, no. Across the border, a new perspective, like trying on your eyes for the first time. I see through a dollar, what a fitting notion, I sit and quietly think to myself, “it’s all been built to break”
8.
Breathing smoke through lungs that are never strong enough to take it. Forcing smiles that used to never have to fake it. Scattered leaves mark the path I walk, the truck body resonates as acorns drop, how can you watch decay in motion and feel absolutely nothing? As the junk car is slowly taken in by the branches, I too am caving in, at the thought of never ending circular habits, fighting the ghost that burns from within.
9.
Rang So True 04:20
I really should have known that that December would be the last time I ever saw you, like I knew you. Though I saw a glimpse of your past life all feeling was gone from your eyes when you said, goodbye. no other words have rang so true, from me to you.
10.
More (II) 02:27
You are more than a collection of numbers in a bank account or in a database somewhere, you are more. You are more than someone else’s opinion of your gender, or where they want you to fit in. You are more than the expectation of a certain role in your family situation. You are more than your parents plans for you, than your judgmental school teachers, than your student loan debt, drive by harassment, jealousy, bigotry, and blind hatred, you are more.

Dear Pines was a band from 2014-2016, Skipping is our first full length, released on Jan 1st, 2016 at our last show. There’s so much to mention about the life of this band, and the people and places that supported us throughout. It was important to us to bring a community feel to our shows, and perpetuate a free space for ideas and feelings where no one was excluded. Whatever you may take away from the songs or the words, just know that whoever you are, you are important, your ideas matter, and there will always be a place for you.
